Day 93

Scripture:
Behold, the Lord God will come with might with His arm ruling for Him… Like a shepherd, He will tend his flock. In His arm, he will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom.

– Isaiah 40:10-11 (NAS)

The Jewish people were looking for a mighty King to deliver them. They envisioned being lifted up in power by a mighty leader. But God’s might came in humble form. Not only do we find a vulnerable baby in the manger scene, but we also find that He leads like a shepherd, not an earthly king. In verse 10, we see that God will rule with His mighty arm, but in verse 11, He gathers us in His arm.

Prayer:
Today’s world needs strong leaders. There is no leader as mighty as You, God. Shine forth among the nations and put Your Hand on them. Thank You for ruling with might, yet gathering us tenderly. Let us experience the Shepherd and trust in Your might at all times. As the shepherds met the Savior, may we listen for the angels’ song and personally worship the newborn King. There is no one stronger than our God, so please bless our leaders.
