Scripture:
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness.
– Isaiah 9:2 (NIV)
The Prophet Isaiah didn’t focus on the fear and anxiety of the darkness, Isaiah’s prophecies were messages of hope for the coming of a Light, which we know to be Jesus. In verse 9:6, the prophet gives us names for the coming light: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There is no doubt that we have felt fear, anxiety, and darkness with COVID and all the changes it has brought to the world and the church universal. However, the prophet continues to point us to the Light of the World. Today, which name for the Light resonates in your heart and mind and why?
Prayer:
Dear God, help me to move beyond fear, anxiety, and darkness this Advent Season and focus on Jesus, who wants to bring light into every heart.
