Scripture:
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
– 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NASB)
As believers, we should not be strangers to joy. Paul lists this attribute as one of the fruits of a Spirit-filled life (see Gal 5:22). So why does Paul exhort us to rejoice always? We can always rejoice because regardless of any situation, God is still sovereign, and His promises to us in Christ Jesus remain unchangeable. Being thankful in all circumstances may seem difficult if you are going through a trying time. When faced with difficulties, learn to give God thanks before you see resolution.
Prayer:
Lord, I give thanks to You regardless of how I feel or what I see around me in this moment. Create in me a heart that flows with praise and thanksgiving to You. Thank You for my life, my family and friends, and for my church family. Thank You for the opportunities that You are creating.
