Day 66

Scripture:
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

– Philippian 4:12-13 (NIV)

Contentment frees us from anxiety. Paul claims to have discovered its secret. He is indifferent to what he has or what he lacks because it is irrelevant to his purpose and calling. He does not need more and is not distracted by what he has accumulated. Jesus is enough and so Jesus must hold our full attention. If we are to be faithful to this revealed truth we must repent from our ceaseless striving. Christ is enough. Thank God today for the gifts He has given you.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for everything you have done for me. Help me to be content. Help me view my life from Your perspective so that changing circumstances do not affect my inner contentment. I want to be satisfied in my circumstance and be obedient to You.
