Day 57

Scripture:
He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the LORD.

– Jeremiah 22:16 (NASB)

Do you want to know God? Really know God? Defend the cause of the poor and those in need.

Look around. Where are the opportunities God is giving you to take up their cause? Don’t reason away the opportunities because of judgement, righteous indignation, or indifference. In the end, the only opinion of you that matters is God’s. Spend your life advocating for the poor and the needy, and there you will find God.

Prayer:
Father, I want to know You. Help me see the opportunities You bring before me to defend the cause of the poor and needy. Help me be more aware of the inconsistencies in my life. I repent of the judgement, pride, and indifference that leads me to secure my own comfort over the justice of others. Break my heart for the injustices that break Your heart, and give me the courage to right the wrongs that need my action.
