Scripture:
This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’
– Zechariah 7:9-10 (NIV)
Find a quiet place to be still with God. Take a deep breath and as you exhale, release your burdens and thoughts. Offer this moment to God and ask Him to speak to you. Now read the verse again. Is there a word or phrase that God is drawing to your attention? What do these admonitions tell us about God? What do they tell you about yourself? Read the verse another time. Let the passage pull you in. Are there areas where you need to ask forgiveness and change? Are there areas in which our community needs to ask forgiveness and change?
Prayer:
Talk to God about what He is revealing. Ask for more insight and for forgiveness if He has revealed sin in your heart or sin in our community. Keep the verse close to you today. Offer God room to work on your heart and mind.
