Scripture:
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
– Matthew 5:10 (NIV)
While we may not desire to be persecuted for our faith and practice, Jesus said that those who suffer persecution because of righteousness are blessed, and the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them. Instead of fearing persecution, embrace it as a refining opportunity, and remember to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering for their faith all over the world.
Prayer:
Lord, please be with our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering under the hand of persecution. Comfort and encourage them. Reveal Yourself to them and strengthen their faith. Be with our ministry partners in Cuba, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan as they face religious persecution and economic oppression. Comfort and remind them that You are with them and that theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
