Scripture:
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
– Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Too often prayer is only requests and petitions. In stillness, God reveals Himself. When we are talking, we cannot hear. We are called to “be still and know.” Stillness is more than silence (the lack of ambient noise). It includes stillness of mind, removing the clutter of to-do lists, pressing work or family issues, or any other anxiety-driven restlessness. The focus that stillness provides prepares our hearts to know God. Try to include a time of silence and stillness in all your prayers.
Prayer:
Lord, may I be still in mind and soul so that I may hear Your voice and know Your will for my life. May we, as a church, be still in mind and soul so that we may hear your voice and know Your will for our community.
