Scripture: Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. I, even I, am He who comforts you.
– Isaiah 51:11-12
The exiles are promised comfort and help on their return journey home, following the slaughter of the Babylonians. It is also our promise. From what do you need restoration – pain, illness, rejection? God promises our joy can be restored, no matter what happens on the journey. Sing today because we have a God who comforts us.
Prayer: O Lord, many of us are on forced journeys of sadness and loss. Help us remember that we are overcomers because You said so. Help us practice singing with great joy for You know our needs and You desire our praise.
Petition: For Christians in Myanmar who have to hide and take different journeys than they planned. For God to protect them from the soldiers. That He will Send rain, confusion, and fear to those who seek to harm them. That our friends be comforted and find joy in God’s protection.
