Day 32

Scripture:
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire, a still small voice.

– 1 Kings 19:11-18 (NKJV)

In our humanity, we see through the lens of our natural mind, not through the lens of God’s Spirit. We might long for the Lord to answer our prayers in the form of a miracle or a loud voice, but that is rarely the case. We want to see with our eyes, touch with our hands and hear a pounding voice to be certain we are hearing the voice of God. More often, the Lord speaks in a still small voice. When we fail to quiet our hearts, we limit our ability to hear His whispers. Silence your heart and mind before Him so He can speak to you.

Prayer:
Ask the Lord to help you pay attention, so you may hear His still small voice through all the noise that distracts.
