Scripture:
As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
– Luke 9:57-58 (NIV)
Jesus’ life was not glorious. He had no home and virtually no possessions. He walked from place to place spending his time among the poorest and most marginalized people in society. Would you be willing to leave all your comforts to follow Him? What do you think Christ’s example says about the way we should view material comforts and societal status?
Prayer: Lord, I struggle looking beyond the worldly way of life that surrounds me. Please help me remain focused on You. Help me remember Your example and guide me through each day.
Petition: That those who have accumulated worldly status and wealth will remain focused on God and feel compelled to use their resources and abilities to help those around them and show His love in the world.
