Day 281

Scripture:

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.

– Proverbs 18:2 (NIV)

It is much easier to stick with our existing ideas and opinions rather than working to fully understand something. Many times, this can be overcome simply by earnest listening to someone with different views than our own. We need to come to God for wisdom and remain humble in our views and opinions.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that You will give me the humility to remember that I don’t know everything and need to approach others’ ideas with an open mind and resist being stuck in my ways or thinking.

Petition: That our leaders will avoid rhetoric and seek to do the right thing even when it might mean changing previously held views.
