Day 262

Scripture:

Then he came there to a cave and spent the night there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

– 1 Kings 19:9 (NASB)

When we are fearful or discouraged, we tend to hide. We feel sorry for ourselves, so we seek a place of isolation. Elijah just won a miraculous battle, yet a threat from Jezebel sent him running. We are prone to focus on the difficulties in front of us. We quickly forget the victory God just gave us. Next time God calls out to you and asks “what are you doing here?”, it’s because He wants you in the right place – in the center of His will.

Prayer: Father, when we lose our way, thank You for gently guiding us back. Thank You for never allowing us to be lost for too long.

Petition: For those among us facing depression. That the Lord will comfort and sustain them. That we will be empathetic and supportive and communicate that in helpful ways. That we will be a safe community for everyone walking through difficult times.
