Day 255

Scripture:

I will exalt You, my God, the King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever.

– Psalm 145:1-2

The true essence of prayer is praise. If we think of prayer as coming into the real presence of God, if we have any notion of Him, we will be overcome with awe and wonder. In this way, each time we bow our heads or fold our hands in humble prayer, we are compelled to declare His praises. If we pray only to recite our list of petitions, it may be something other than the true essence of prayer that reorders our perspective to see God first and our condition only in His light. Approach Him first with reverence and adoration. Greet Him with praises and shower Him with gratefulness.

Prayer: Father, we praise You for who You are. In Your presence, we see truth, experience awe, and our lives are changed.

Petition: For the Community Garden team. That they will discern God’s leading as they develop the Community and Prayer Garden. That the garden will become a place of sanctuary and life as it gives sustenance to people working and receiving its fruit.
