Day 198

Scripture:

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life is not from the Father, but is from the world.”

— 1 John 2:16 (NASB)

We are enticed and entangled under three devices that have befallen man from the beginning of time. The lust of the flesh is the gratification of our fleshly desires. The lust of the eyes is the strong desire for what we see. The eyes see and the eyes want. The pride is that which excludes the views of God, such as self-importance, self-sufficiency, self-seeking and other “self” titles. The enemy has not come up with new traps to make us stumble. The old ones work just fine. Since God has shown us the enemy’s scheme, let our eyes be open to avoid these sins.

Prayer: Lord, we do not love the world’s ways. We want You, Father, involved and not excluded from our daily lives. Please forgive us when we make commitments without consulting You. Protect us from the sins that entangle this world, the lust of the flesh, coveting eyes, and the pride of life.

Petition: For our security guards, that God will protect and bless them. That they will feel His love for them while on our campuses. That they will be led by the Lord and given prudence while serving and protecting.
