Day 186

Scripture:

And he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

– Matthew 18:4 (NIV)

Greatness is not defined by power or authority but in the vulnerability of acknowledging that we need help. Jesus responds to the disciple’s question regarding who among them will be greatest in the kingdom by describing humility. True greatness is like a child, innocent, trusting, and humble. He states clearly, things that make someone great on earth will not make a person great in heaven. Greatness in God’s kingdom is found in humility.

Prayer: Lord, help us set our focus on You and resist the temptation to value the things of this world. Save me from confusing success on earth with Your approval in the Kingdom of Heaven. Make me humble like the child You have called me to be.

Petition: For humility, wisdom, and discernment for the pastors and staff, as they seek the Lord regarding His will for our church.
