Scripture:
“All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.”
– Ecclesiastes 3:20
True faith in Jesus takes life straight. We need not dull the truth of our mortality or our fallibility. Today begins the season of Lent, the 40 days of preparation and penance before we celebrate Easter. We cannot fully appreciate the grace given in Christ if we do not acknowledge that we are sinful creatures unable to stop our own demise. Repent, change your ways, and remember that you are dust and to dust, you shall return.
Prayer: Lord, I confess that I am not all I should be. Have mercy on me in the name of Jesus who is the Christ.
Petition: For our church, all its members, and all those with authority that they may have courage to face life and our future unafraid.
