Scripture:
“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.”
– Psalm 40: 1-3
Note the progression of these verses. King David was in distress and cried out to the Lord. He waited patiently (the hard part), and the Lord responded in His perfect timing. God did two things: He made David steady and strong. He gave him a new song or a new path to follow. When others saw how God took care of David, they put their trust in Him. When you find yourself in a “pit”, cry out to the Lord. Wait and see what He will do.
Prayer: God, sometimes I feel like I am in a deep pit, and You can’t see or hear me. Please lift me out, steady me and give me a new path to follow. May others see Your mighty works in me.
