Scripture:
Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
– Romans 8:26-27 (NASB)
Before his crucifixion, Jesus assured his disciples that it was expedient for him to return to the Father, else the Holy Spirit would not come to them. For believers today, the Holy Spirit is our “paraklētos,” meaning our Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, and Standby (John 16:7).
Don’t struggle in your own strength as you pray. Welcome the Holy Spirit and depend on Him. He is ever-present to be your help and strength when you feel weak or can’t find the right words to say. Never forget that the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father to intercede for you in accordance with God’s divine will.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to be my Helper and Intercessor. Forgive me for the times I have relied on my strength. Holy Spirit, I welcome You anew. Strengthen me in my weaknesses and intercede on my behalf in accordance with Your will.
