Scripture:
“Pay attention Job, and listen to me; be silent, and I will speak. If you have anything to say, answer me; speak up, for I want to vindicate you. But if not, then listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”
– Job 33:31-33 (NIV)
How often is our prayer time filled with petitions rather than spending time in silence waiting for God to speak—to give us wisdom? We are called to “be still and know that He is God” (Psalm 46:10). Stillness is more than mere silence (the lack of ambient noise) but also the stillness of our mind. It removes, for a moment, the clutter of our daily to-do lists, our pressing work or family issues, our restlessness, etc. Through silence and stillness, we gain wisdom. In our prayer for today, you will see the ellipsis (…) which indicates a time of silence and stillness. Take as much time as you want. Don’t feel rushed. Be still and seek His wisdom. It may become something you want to include in all your prayers.
Prayer:
Lord, still my mind and soul so that I may hear Your voice as I seek Your will for me… Lord, still our minds and souls so that we may hear Your voice as we seek Your will for our church…
