Day 115

Scripture:
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
– Luke 2:13-14

Near a shepherd’s field in Israel, there is a tent-shaped chapel dedicated to the angels who sang the announcement to the shepherds the night Jesus was born. People from all over the world come into the chapel to admire the artwork and to sing, Angels We Have Heard on High. Men, women and children wait in line for their turn to surround the altar and sing this great hymn in their native language. It’s unmistakable! No matter what country they are from, the melody is the same and everyone watching and listening knows that they are praising God with their voices.

This Christmas Day, take some time away from your holiday festivities to sing praises to God in your native language. When we do this, we are joining with millions of Christians across the world, thanking God for sending Jesus to us.

Prayer:
Dear God, I don’t want to get so caught up in my own plans that I forget to sing praise to You for the birth of Your Son. Help me this season to keep my focus on the Christ child. May I be ever thankful for all You have done for me, and my brothers and sisters across the globe.
