“Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness.” Matthew 9:35
Dear Church Family,
We are talking throughout the season of Lent about our new strategies for making disciples: Get Connected, Gather, Grow, Go, and Give. So far we have learned how important it is to find your place in the church; how vital it is to come together as the whole church to worship, pray and be in fellowship together; and how essential it is to find a small group in order to experience community and share life with others.
This Sunday, we will talk about our Go strategy where we seek to mobilize our church and our neighbors to join together in transforming our neighborhoods, our city, and our world. Our goal is to increase the amount of opportunities for hands-on service for our members and neighbors to participate in and to invite people to join together with others who live around them to serve in neighborhoods across the city.
We are getting off to a great start this year with our Go ministries. This month we collected items for STAAR Bags and last Sunday after worship we stayed to fill the STAAR Bags, decorate them, and pray over them. It was a fun time of working together for good! We also sent a mission team to Honduras over Spring Break to build houses with CAMINO Ministries.
Beginning April 1, we are partnering with KHOU 11 as a drop off site for their Turn the Page Campaign, where people can donate new or gently used books to help children learn to read. Then, on Saturday, April 5th, we have the opportunity to volunteer to be a part of NIA’s Egg Hunt at Siro Gutierrez Park. These are great opportunities to invite your friends and neighbors to participate in doing good.
When we serve in ministries of transformation, we are continuing Jesus’ work of going into the cities and villages proclaiming the good news of the kingdom. We are also fulfilling the Great Commission, going and making disciples of all nations.
Join us on Sunday as we learn more about our Go Ministries. After worship, we will have our first Coffee and Connections event outside of Main Street Indoor Park to connect with our staff and learn more about getting connected in the life of our church. I can’t wait to see you on Sunday morning!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Lance
